Seeking therapy can be difficult, however, even when we know we need help. We may be afraid of discovering unpleasant or painful things about ourselves or others, or of being overwhelmed by our feelings. Sometimes we’ve had an experience in therapy that caused us to feel judged or unheard, or just not helped. Given all that, the choice to undertake psychotherapy is a courageous step.
